Senior Conflicts & Innovation Lawyer

A leading international law firm is looking for a Senior Conflicts & Innovation Lawyer to join its London team.

This is a senior role combining legal expertise in conflicts with a focus on innovation, technology and process improvement. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the firm’s approach to conflicts and new business risk, while identifying opportunities to improve and modernise existing processes.

The role would suit a qualified lawyer with strong experience in conflicts who is also interested in how technology and innovation can be used to improve risk management and operational efficiency within a law firm.

Key Responsibilities for the Senior Conflicts & Innovation Lawyer role:

• Provide senior-level legal and risk advice on complex conflicts of interest and new business intake matters.
• Review and assess potential conflicts, including complex and sensitive matters involving multiple jurisdictions, entities and stakeholders.
• Support the development and implementation of the firm’s conflicts and new business policies, procedures and controls.
• Work closely with the wider Risk, Compliance, Business Acceptance and legal teams to ensure matters are assessed consistently and efficiently.
• Identify opportunities to improve conflicts and business acceptance processes through technology, automation and data-driven solutions.
• Lead or support projects focused on process improvement, innovation and the optimisation of conflicts systems and workflows.
• Provide guidance and training to lawyers and business services teams on conflicts, risk and new business procedures.
• Contribute to the development of best practice across the firm’s conflicts and business acceptance functions.
• Support the management and resolution of complex or escalated conflicts issues.
• Monitor relevant legal, regulatory and industry developments and assess their impact on the firm’s conflicts and new business processes.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Qualified lawyer with strong post-qualification experience, ideally gained within a leading UK or international law firm.
• Significant experience in conflicts, business acceptance, new business intake or a closely related risk function.
• Strong understanding of legal conflicts principles and the risks associated with accepting new clients and matters.
• Experience handling complex and high-risk conflicts issues and providing advice to senior stakeholders.
• A genuine interest in legal technology, innovation and process improvement.
