An international law firm is looking to appoint a Head of Financial Crime to lead and develop its financial crime compliance function in London.

This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for overseeing the firm’s approach to AML, sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption, fraud and wider financial crime risks across the business.

Working closely with senior stakeholders across Risk & Compliance, Legal, Partners and the wider business, you will provide strategic advice on financial crime matters, ensure the firm’s policies and controls remain robust and effective, and support the continued development of the firm’s global financial crime framework.

Key Responsibilities for the Head of Financial Crime role:

  • Lead the firm’s financial crime compliance function and provide strategic direction across the business.
  • Develop, implement and maintain the firm’s global financial crime strategy, policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the firm’s AML, sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption, fraud and other financial crime controls.
  • Act as the firm’s deputy MLRO.
  • Provide senior-level advice and guidance to Partners, lawyers and business services teams on complex and high-risk financial crime matters.
  • Oversee the firm’s approach to client and matter risk assessments, enhanced due diligence and ongoing monitoring.
  • Ensure appropriate escalation and management of high-risk clients, transactions and financial crime concerns.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on the firm’s policies, procedures and controls.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Significant financial crime compliance experience, ideally gained within an international or leading law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of UK AML and financial crime regulation.
  • Strong knowledge of AML, sanctions, bribery and corruption and fraud risks.
  • Proven people leadership and team management experience.
