An exciting and genuinely unique opportunity has arisen for a Risk & Compliance Lawyer to join a highly regarded international law firm in either their New York or Washington DC office.

This role stands out in the US market, offering a rare blend of conflicts-focused work (circa 70%) alongside broader strategic risk and compliance exposure (30%).

It is particularly well suited to a conflicts lawyer who is looking to expand their skillset beyond pure conflicts work and gain experience across wider regulatory and risk matters within a global firm.

While the core of the role centres on conflicts and business intake, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop and diversify their experience across a broad range of risk and compliance activities, making this an excellent step for someone seeking long-term development into a more rounded risk role.

In this role, you will play a key part in safeguarding the firm by:

• Advising partners and internal stakeholders on conflicts of interest, professional responsibility, and new business intake matters
• Supporting the review of outside counsel guidelines and engagement terms
• Collaborating closely with partners, General Counsel, and other business services teams on complex conflicts matters
• Gaining exposure to wider risk and compliance work, including regulatory and professional responsibility matters
• Supporting policy development, risk management initiatives, and internal compliance projects
• Providing guidance on firm policies, regulatory obligations, and best practices
• Assisting with broader governance and risk-related matters as the role develops

The ideal candidate will be a qualified lawyer, either in-house or in private practice, who is interested in moving into a risk and compliance role within an international law firm.

Prior direct conflicts experience is not essential, and the firm is open to candidates with transferable skills who are keen to build expertise in this area.
