A prominent US law firm is looking for a Senior Risk Attorney to join their London office and will report to the Director of Risk & Compliance.
The Senior Risk Attorney position will be instrumental in supporting the London office’s compliance with SRA requirements while working closely with colleagues in the US offices, ensuring consistent global risk management practices.
Key Responsibilities for the Senior Risk Attorney role:
- Provide practical, solutions-oriented advice on professional conduct, regulatory compliance, and firm policies.
- Act as a trusted advisor to partners and fee earners on risk-related matters, including conflicts, engagement terms, and professional obligations.
- Draft, review, and maintain firmwide compliance policies, procedures, and guidance materials.
- Contribute to firmwide and London Risk Committee reporting, ensuring management is informed of key issues, trends, and mitigation strategies.
- Monitor regulatory and legal developments, advising the firm on implications and recommended responses.
- Deliver risk and compliance training sessions to lawyers and business services staff, ensuring consistent awareness of regulatory obligations.
- Support onboarding and induction programmes with tailored compliance content.
- Support SRA compliance requirements, including practising certificate renewals and regulatory submissions.
- Review engagement terms, Outside Counsel Guidelines, and client contractual requirements.
- Work closely with London AML and financial crime teams to ensure alignment between risk and financial crime processes.
- Liaise with US Office of General Counsel colleagues to maintain consistency in global compliance approaches.
- Maintain external networks to benchmark and share best practices with peer firms
Skills & Experience:
- Qualified solicitor
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in risk and compliance within a law firm.
- Strong understanding of the SRA regulatory framework, Money Laundering Regulations, and other applicable legislation.
- Demonstrated experience advising on compliance policies, drafting risk management frameworks, and supporting regulatory reporting.
