A prestigious international law firm is looking for a Risk Lawyer/Senior Risk Lawyer to join their Compliance team in their London office.

The Risk Lawyer/Senior Risk Lawyer role offers exposure to complex regulatory risk matters, internal advisory work, and strategic projects impacting the firm’s global risk framework and would be ideal for a fee-earner looking to transition into an in-house risk and compliance role.

Key Responsibilities for the Risk Lawyer/Senior Risk Lawyer role:

  • Provide legal and regulatory risk advice to partners, lawyers, and business services teams.
  • Support the GC and the broader Legal & Regulatory Risk Team on a wide range of matters, including professional conduct, regulatory compliance, and firmwide risk management.
  • Advise on interpretation and application of the SRA Codes of Conduct, anti-money laundering regulations, sanctions rules, confidentiality obligations, Outside Counsel Guidelines, and broader professional rules.
  • Support the handling of conflict of interest queries, ethical issues, and conduct matters where required.
  • Draft and update risk policies, guidance notes, and internal training materials.
  • Help manage regulatory enquiries, notifications, and internal investigations in collaboration with the GC.
  • Contribute to firmwide risk projects, including implementation of new regulatory requirements and enhancements to the firm’s global governance framework.
  • Deliver internal risk training to legal and business services teams.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified lawyer (England & Wales)
  • Previous experience as a fee-earner in private practice, or experience working in legal and regulatory compliance ideally within a law firm.
  • Strong interest in law firm risk and regulatory compliance. Prior experience in an in-house risk role is advantageous but not essential.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work collaboratively with senior leadership across jurisdictions.
