A US law firm is looking for a Risk Specialist to join its London-based Risk & Compliance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This Risk Specialist (12 mth FTC ) role will play a key part in supporting the firm’s new business intake and ongoing client monitoring processes, with a particular focus on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and conflicts.
Key Responsibilities for the Risk Specialist (12 mth FTC) role:
- Conduct comprehensive AML and client due diligence on new and existing clients in line with regulatory requirements and firm policies.
- Perform conflict checks for new clients, matters, and lateral hires using the firm’s conflicts systems.
- Analyse conflict search results and assist with identifying potential legal and commercial conflicts.
- Escalate complex AML or conflicts issues to senior members of the Risk & Compliance team where appropriate.
- Liaise with fee earners and business services teams to obtain necessary information to complete client onboarding.
- Ensure compliance with UK AML regulations, sanctions requirements, and firm policies.
- Assist with ongoing monitoring, client risk assessments, and periodic reviews where required.
- Maintain accurate records of due diligence and conflicts checks within the firm’s systems.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of risk management procedures and processes.
Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience working in a Risk, Compliance, AML, or Business Intake function, ideally within a law firm environment.
- Strong working knowledge of AML regulations and financial crime risk.
- Experience conducting client due diligence and analysing complex corporate structures.
- Familiarity with conflicts checking processes and systems within a legal environment is advantageous.
