A leading international Law firm is looking for a Financial Crime Lawyer to join their Risk & Compliance department in London.
The ideal candidate for the Financial Crime Lawyer role will have substantial experience in a financial crime focused role within a law firm environment.
Key Responsibilities for the Financial Crime Lawyer role:
- Advise the General Counsel, MLRO, MLCO, and wider Risk team on all aspects of financial crime regulation and compliance.
- Lead and manage investigations into complex AML, sanctions, and bribery concerns, ensuring appropriate escalation and documentation.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of firmwide financial crime policies, controls, and procedures.
- Provide advice on client due diligence and matter acceptance, including high-risk jurisdictions, politically exposed persons (PEPs), and sanctions screening.
- Support the preparation of regulatory reports and responses to audits or information requests.
- Design and deliver training sessions on financial crime topics to lawyers and business services staff.
- Assist with firmwide risk assessments and contribute to the firm’s annual review of its financial crime framework.
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with UK and international regulatory standards.
- Keep abreast of emerging legislation, regulatory changes, and enforcement trends, ensuring these are communicated effectively across the firm.
Skills and Experience:
- Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales).
- In-depth understanding of UK financial crime laws and regulations, including AML, sanctions, ABC, and related SRA obligations.
- Experience advising on or managing complex financial crime investigations or compliance projects.
- Prior experience within a law firm risk or compliance team, or exposure to new business acceptance processes, would be advantageous.
