A prominent US law firm is looking for an experienced Assistant General Counsel to join its London-based team.
This is a senior in-house role with a focus on commercial contracting across both the vendor and client side. Working closely with the General Counsel and key business stakeholders, the role will play an important part in supporting the firm’s strategic, operational and commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities for the Assistant General Counsel Role:
- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including:
- Client engagement letters and related documentation
- Vendor, supplier and outsourcing contracts
- Technology, SaaS and data-related agreements
- Act as a senior legal adviser on contractual risk, providing clear, pragmatic guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Support firm-wide initiatives involving new vendors, technology platforms and strategic partnerships.
- Partner with business services teams (including IT, procurement, finance and operations) on commercial matters.
- Identify, assess and manage legal and contractual risk associated with the firm’s operations.
- Support the development and refinement of internal contracting processes, templates and policies.
- Assist the General Counsel on wider legal matters as required, including cross-border and strategic projects.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Qualified lawyer
- Significant experience gained within a law firm environment.
- Demonstrable expertise in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Extensive experience in advising on risk and providing legal advice to a law firm.
