A leading international law firm is looking for a Business Acceptance Lawyer / Advisor to join its London-based Risk & Compliance team, with a primary focus on conflicts of interest and anti-money laundering (AML).
The role is open to qualified lawyers or experienced risk and compliance professionals, and the successful candidate does not need to be a lawyer, provided they have strong, demonstrable experience advising on conflicts and AML within an international law firm environment
Key Responsibilities for the Business Acceptance Lawyer / Advisor role:
- Advising on conflicts of interest, including complex and sensitive conflict scenarios, ethical issues and conflict waivers.
- Conducting and reviewing AML and client due diligence (CDD), including enhanced due diligence for higher-risk clients and matters.
- Supporting the end-to-end new business and matter intake process, ensuring conflicts and AML risks are appropriately identified and mitigated.
- Acting as a key escalation point for conflicts and AML-related queries from fee-earners and business services teams.
- Providing guidance on applicable regulatory and professional conduct requirements impacting client acceptance.
- Liaising with global risk, compliance and legal teams on cross-border matters.
- Assisting with the development of policies, procedures and training relating to conflicts and AML.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Qualified lawyer or an experienced risk/compliance professional within an international law firm.
- Demonstrable experience advising on conflicts of interest and AML in a legal services environment.
- Strong understanding of law firm business acceptance and risk management frameworks.
- Confident communicator, able to advise partners and senior stakeholders.
