A leading international law firm is looking for a Conflicts & Compliance Team Leader to join their Manchester office.
As Conflicts & Compliance Team Leader, you will play a key leadership role within the Business Acceptance function and previous experience working in a conflicts, AML, or business acceptance team in a legal environment is essential.
Key Responsibilities for the Conflicts & Compliance Team Leader role:
- Provide day-to-day leadership and operational support to the Conflicts & Compliance team.
- Oversee workflow distribution, ensure resource allocation meets business needs, and that deadlines are met.
- Drive process improvement and share best practice across the team and wider risk function.
- Advise on potential conflicts relating to new clients and matters, including complex and sensitive cases.
- Review and guide effective use of the firm’s conflict checking tools and systems (e.g., Intapp Open).
- Escalate high-risk or complex conflict matters to the Head of Business Acceptance or General Counsel.
- Act as an escalation point for high-risk client onboarding and enhanced due diligence matters.
- Support the firm’s MLRO(s) and Risk team with investigations, reporting, and training.
- Assist in onboarding and ongoing training of new team members and legal staff on conflicts, AML, and compliance protocols.
Qualifications & Skills:
- In-depth understanding of SRA Codes of Conduct, particularly regarding conflicts and AML obligations.
- Previous experience working in a conflicts, AML, or business acceptance team in a legal environment.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to coach and develop junior team members.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and conflicts/AML tools (e.g., Intapp Open or equivalent).
