An international law firm is looking for a Risk Lawyer to join their Risk & Compliance team in Bristol. The ideal candidate will already have some experience in legal Risk & Compliance or alternatively a fee earner with a data protection background looking to move into an in house risk role.
The Risk Lawyer role involves providing risk-related advice, compliance guidance, and general support to the firm. The candidate will work closely with senior lawyers and compliance specialists to ensure the firm operates within a complex regulatory environment.
Key Responsibilities for the Risk Lawyer role:
- Act as the first point of escalation for team members handling compliance-related tasks.
- Maintain breach logs and assist in regulatory reporting.
- Monitor and manage the R&C inbox, responding to queries and triaging issues.
- Provide risk-related insights and recommendations on internal projects.
- Support senior R&C lawyers on key projects, including the Client Matter Inception project.
- Assist in data protection matters, including handling data breaches, DSAR requests, and compliance queries in coordination with the Data Protection Manager.
- Prepare materials for escalated decision-making by senior management (COLP/MLRO).
- Offer guidance and support to Business Services teams and international offices on risk and compliance matters.
Qualifications:
- 0-3 years PQE (or relevant experience in a Risk & Compliance team).
- Proven experience within a compliance team in a law firm setting.
- Knowledge of data protection legislation (preferred).
- Experience in the insurance market or litigation matters is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Intapp Open software is desirable.
